Bob and CurrrantsOn my first guided trip on the Bighorn this year, I had the pleasure of meeting and spending a day with Bob Krumm. Talk about knowledgeable! Bob has been guiding for over 30 years and has been honored for his contribution to the industry.

Bob has also written several books on berries including the Rocky Mountain Berry Book. Before we climbed into his drift boat for the day, we took a little hike riverside and looked at the black currant bushes and hunted for asparagus. Bob and AsparagusTo my delight we found a couple dozen stalks that we broke off and then cooked up for lunch riverside. Honestly, like fresh tomatoes off a vine, they tasted sweet like candy. I could have eaten dozens of them with just a little salt and pepper.

Bob put me on to dozens of fish with both nymphs and dry flies. We had a blast in the early evening watching and catching fish rising and slurping down my flies.

Asparagus MealOur day didn’t end until after 9:00 p.m. when we finally pulled up to the boat ramp. Special.
