LouLou McCullough has been guiding for the last 20 years but at the Arkansas in Pueblo for the last seven years. He has a passion for this river, which is obvious from the work he has done through his local Trout Unlimited Chapter, Southern Colorado Greenbacks Trout Unlimited Chapter.

As you can read in my post “Redds”, Lou’s TU chapter was instrumental in raising money to make this river a more inviting fishing destination. In Lou’s words, “The Arkansas River enhancement project was originally started by the Corps of Engineers with the adding of structures in the river approximately ten years ago.  Colorado Trout Unlimited Chapter 509 partnered with the City of Pueblo among others to initiate Phase II of the project.  The plan was to correct 117 of the original structures and add another 107 new structures.  Now the project is about two-thirds complete.  Doug Krieger, Senior Aquatic Biologist for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, is quoted as saying it is one of the top ten tail water fisheries in the country; think what it will be 5 years from now!”

Fly Shop

He is the owner of Steel City Anglers and has the dubious honor of owning the smallest fly shop.
