Shawn Saunders of Fremont River Guides has been guiding for over 22 years. He got his start tying flies for local shops in his native Idaho. His heart is in southern Utah and it shows with his passion and knowledge of the area.
Shawn and I fished three rivers together – the Sevier, the Beaver and the Fremont. The Sevier is near Bryce and Zion National Parks and the Fremont takes you through Capital Reef. These are some of the most beautiful spots in the country.
After fishing long leaders, 4x tippet and nymphs the last few months, Shawn reminded me of a different style of fishing – looking for big browns in smaller streams with streamers. I had a lot of fun trying although I still haven’t caught a fish on a streamer yet. Just unlucky days I suppose… Thanks for showing me beautiful southern Utah.
